When to delete pages from a PDF

Removing pages sounds simple, but it comes up in surprisingly many workflows. You might have a 40-page report where only the executive summary matters. Or a scanned batch where blank pages snuck in between the real content. Maybe you're sharing a document and want to strip out internal-only sections before sending it.

  • Removing cover pages, table of contents, or appendices before sharing
  • Cleaning up scanned documents by removing blank or duplicate pages
  • Extracting a section from a manual or textbook
  • Stripping confidential pages before distributing a report
  • Reducing file size by removing image-heavy pages you don't need

What happens when you delete a page

PDFey removes the selected pages from the PDF document structure using pdf-lib. The remaining pages stay exactly as they were — same formatting, same resolution, same everything. Page numbers in the file update automatically, and the file size drops because the deleted content is no longer included.

One thing to keep in mind: this operation is permanent in the output file. PDFey doesn't modify your original — it creates a new PDF without the deleted pages. So your source file is always safe. But if you need those pages later, keep the original around.

Batch deletion tips

  • Click on page thumbnails to select multiple pages at once before deleting
  • If you want to keep just a few pages from a large PDF, it might be faster to use Split PDF to extract the pages you need
  • For documents with repeating blank pages (common in duplex scans), check the page previews carefully — some "blank" pages have faint marks that might be important
  • After deleting pages, consider running the result through Compress PDF if the file is still large
